December 03, 2008 -- Mymetics Corporation announces initial research coverage by Khandaker Partners

Mymetics Corporation (OTCBB: MYMX) is a Switzerland-based biotechnology company engaged in developing vaccines. The company’s vaccine pipeline consists of two vaccine candidates in Phase I human clinical trials and three other vaccines. Mymetics’ two-antigen Malaria vaccine has successfully completed Phase I and II human clinical trials. A new Malaria vaccine with four/five antigens (based on the successful two-antigen vaccine) is expected to undergo human Phase I clinical trials commencing in Q3 2009. The second vaccine, a prophylactic HIV/AIDS vaccine scheduled to enter Phase I human clinical trials in December 2008, reported promising results in the SHIV viral challenge in 2008.

Mymetics has an exclusive worldwide license to use Pevion Biotech AG’s unique virosome® technology as a delivery system for its HIV vaccine. The technology is also the carrier for the Malaria vaccine. Implementation of the virosome® technology boosts the effect of antigens without the use of additional adjuvants. Mymetics believes usage of the technology would reduce the time-to-market for its vaccines and thereby give the company a strategic edge over its competitors. Moreover, the virosome® technology has been used since 1994 with over 40 million doses produced for 43 countries, and has a good safety profile. Read the full article
